On 14 March 2019, Ambassador István Szabó met with MNA Mrs. Mehnaz Akber Aziz, Convener of the Hungarian-Pakistani Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The Ambassador emphasized that he considered it important to strengthen relations between the parliaments of the two countries. Furthermore, he informed the MNA about the cultural initiatives of the Embassy in the recent years; the activities of the MOL Pakistan, which provides 14% of Pakistan’s energy need; the Hungarian-Pakistani Joint Economic Commission to be held in Budapest in September 2019. He highlighted the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship (SH) Programme, which is the flagship project of the bilateral relations, and yearly 200 Pakistani students start their studies in Hungarian universities in its framework. The Head of Mission told Mrs. Aziz that currently the Embassy has been working on creating an Alumni group for the SH graduates in order to stay in touch with them.

Mrs. Aziz told that she intended to help the initiatives of the Embassy, and she would increase the visibility of the Hungarian-Pakistani relations. To this end, the friendship group is planning to issue newsletters at regular intervals.
