On 30 April 2021, Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary paid an official visit in Islamabad. It was 15 years ago when Hungarian Foreign Minister came to the capital of Pakistan last time, thus the current visit held an extraordinary significance.

Besides holding talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Hungarian Minister also met with Abdul Razak Dawood Adviser on Commerce and Investment. Mr. Péter Szijjártó was received on a courtesy visit by Prime Minister Imran Khan as well. He signed an agreement with the Minister of Education Shafqat Mehmood on the continuation of the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program in Pakistan.

Qureshi thanked Hungary the 200 scholarships offered to Pakistani students each year under the Stipendium Hungaricum programme, whose popularity is well illustrated by the nearly fiftyfold oversubscription for the offered places.

In parallel with the visit of the Foreign Minister, the Hungarian-Pakistani business forum and businessman meeting took place, which was attended by 12 Hungarian and 45 Pakistani companies and the Hungarian Export-Import Bank.
