On 19 February 2021, a press conference was held on the occasion of the Pakistan Teqball Federation’s foundation in the Peshawar Qayyum Sport Complex and Stadium, where the Embassy of Hungary in Islamabad was also invited.
Chargé d’affaires Mr. Tivadar Takács said at the event, that Hungary had always been a pioneer in sport innovation, which newest result was Tegball that started to conquer the world in 2012. During the previous nine years, 97 national federations and over 2000 clubs have been established around the world. Three Continental Olympic Associations (OCA, ANOCA, ONOC) have already recognised the game as a sport, thus it is on its way to become an official Olympic sport.
Mr. Mian Absar Ali, President of the Pakistan Teqball Federation said that the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) had offered 60 tables to his organization, which makes it possible for Pakistani youth to get know the game. He stressed that they were planning to make a network covering whole Pakistan to discover as many talents as possible, who would be able to compete with the teams of other countries on the international championships.
Mr. Murad Ali, Head of the Qayyum Sport Complex and Stadium expressed his happiness that Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province largest multifunctional center was able to expand the range of its offered activities with a new game to the young Pakistanis looking to play sports.
Following the press conference, Pakistani Teqball players presented the game to the representatives of the media and other interested people.
