On 19 October, 2018, the Embassy of Hungary in Islamabad held a national day reception. Besides of commemorating the Revolution and the Freedom Fight of 1956, the topic of the event was the Hungarian culinary art. The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor of the reception were Federal Minister of Water Resources Mr. Muhammad Faisal Vawda and Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Mr. Khusro Bakhtiar respectively.

In his speech. Ambassador Mr. István Szabó spoke about the importance of the revolution in 1956, and he thanked Pakistan for expressing their solidarity with Hungary and its people after the defeat of the freedom fight and cosponsoring the UN Resolution condemning the Soviet military invasion and the communist reprisal.

Regarding the bilateral relations, Mr. István Szabó highlighted the role of the Stipendium Hungaricum government scholarship programme, and the importance of the Hungarian MOL’s local subsidiary in the Pakistani economy. He thanked the MOL’s contribution to the Hungarian national day.

On behalf of the Pakistani people and government Muhammad Faisal Vawda congratulated on the occasion of the Hungarian national event and he emphasized that there is a need to further enhance the Hungarian-Pakistani cooperation.

The food served at the event was made by the four chefs of the Hungarian Gastronomic National Association with the help of the Serena Hotel’s staff, and they used mostly Hungarian ingredients for the cooking.
