On February 28 2023, at the invitation of Raja Pervez Ashraf, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Ambassador Mr. Béla Fazekas attended the meeting of the Pakistani-Hungarian Parliamentary Friendship Group under the chairmanship of the Speaker. The agenda of the meeting was a general overview of the main events and achievements in the bilateral relations since the last meeting of the friendship group as well as a discussion on the new opportunities to further enhance the cooperation between the two countries.
Apart from the Speaker, MNA Mrs. Mehnaz Akber Aziz, the Convener of the group and its members, the representatives of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and the Higher Education Commission were also present. The Ambassador informed the participants about the results of FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s recent visit to Hungary and the signed bilateral agreements. Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf appreciated that Hungary doubled the number of Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships offered to Pakistan and thanked for further supporting the EU’s GSP+ trade preferences for Pakistan by the Hungarian Government. The Speaker expressed his hope that the role of parliamentary diplomacy will further strengthen to enhance the bilateral cooperation between Hungary and Pakistan.
