On 10 March 2022, Ambassador Mr. Béla Fazekas ceremoniously decorated Mr. Zafar Masud, President and CEO of the Bank of Punjab with the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary. The head of the financial institution received the high-ranking Hungarian state award as the recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of the Hungarian-Pakistani cultural relations.
The Hungarian Head of Mission said that the restoration of the 11 Schoefft paintings that are kept in the Lahore Fort was another significant milestone of the 200 years long Hungarian-Pakistani cultural relations, which could not have been realised without the generous sponsorship of the Bank of Punjab.
