11 May

On 11 May, 2018, the Hungarian Patriots and Homeland Defenders Day (21st May) was celebrated at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad. After listening to both countries’ national anthems, Lieutenant-Colonel László Németh, Defense Attaché greeted the 200 guests, with special thanks to Lieutenant-General Aasim Zaheer, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Air Force, who honored the event with his presence.

In his speech, the Lieutenant-Colonel presented the historic event that serves as the basis of the celebration, when the Hungarian army, after a three-week siege, recaptured the Buda Castle during the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence on 21st May, 1849. He praised the heroes of the past and compared them to the current soldiers, who are also serving their home and nation in a professional way, conscientiously and with great devotion.

During the reception, two short movies were screened about the Hungarian Armed Forces, which further enhanced the prestige of the event.
