On 8 July, 2017, Ambassador István Szabó’s wife, Mrs. Emília Szabó hosted a charity event at the Ambassador's residence. The aim of the occasion was to raise money for the operating costs of an orphanage in Swat.
15 nationally known Pakistani artists set up their own stand at the residence, where they sold – inter alia – folk art objects, paintings, carpets, gold and silver jewelry. The Chinese Embassy also participated in the fundraising with a booth, which was led by the Chinese ambassador’s wife.
Approximately 240 people attended the event (ambassadors, diplomats and the Pakistani contacts of the embassy), who helped to gather around 2 million Pakistani Rupees (circa 4,6 million HUF) for the orphanage.
