On 20 February 2020, Ambassador Mr. István Szabó and Mr. Syed Maaz Mahmood, President of the All Pakistan Business Forum (APBF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote trade links between Pakistan and Hungary.

Mr. István Szabó highlighted that the Hungarian Embassy in Islamabad is focused on a wide range of programs to collaborate with Pakistan including education, culture and science diplomacy, but one of the main goals is enhancing the economic and trade relations.

President of the APBF said that his organization would arrange B2B meetings and organize business delegation visits between the Hungarian and Pakistani stakeholders for sector specific match-making.

Both sides agreed that the Hungarian-Pakistani Joint Economic Committee first meeting in Budapest in September 2019 and the bilateral Business Forum in Lahore on 26 March 2020 are positive signs of the improving economic relations.
