On 12 December 2019, Ambassador István Szabó met with Mr. Shafqat Mahmood, Federal Minister for Education, National History and Literary Heritage. The main topic of the meeting was the approval for the restoration of the Lahore Fort's Schoefft paintings, which are part of the Hungarian-Pakistani common cultural heritage.
The Hungarian Ambassador informed the Minister about the previous discussions with the Lahore authorities and the preparations of the Hungarian restorers. Mr. Shafqat Mahmood thanked the Embassy for its efforts to preserve the common cultural heritage and promised to take steps to issue the necessary permission.
