In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and the Silvanus Forestry Ltd. on 4 April 2019, the Pakistani side has started the local trials on the two species (Turbo Obelisk and Express Willow) provided by the Hungarian company.

Since the signature of the MoU, the Hungarian firm has founded their local company in Islamabad (Silvanus Forestry Pakistan Ltd.) and their representative has made several meetings with the Pakistani stakeholders to support Pakistan’s forestation efforts. PARC Chairman Dr. Muhammad Azeem commended the two test trees as highly valuable plants for timber and sports industries or soil and water conservation.

The Embassy of Hungary does hope that the trials will end with a positive result and Hungary can help Pakistan combating the climate change and plant 10 billion trees within a 5 years period.
