Ambassador István Szabó and Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed signed on Tuesday the amendment of the agreement on higher educational and scientific exchange programme. The amendment enables 200 students each year to enroll at Hungarian universities. In comparision, the original agreement granted only 80 seats in the programme. (Out of the 200 seats, 125 scholarships would be awarded in bachelors programmes while 50 scholarships would be reserved for masters programmes. The remaining 25 scholarships have been reserved for PhD programmes.)

Ambassador Szabó said the increase in scholarships, from 80 to 200, indicates the importance Hungary accords to bilateral relations with Pakistan. The Hungarian envoy also congratulated the first batch of Pakistani students for their academic achievements, who have just completed their first semester. HE Mr. Baligh-ur-Rehman, Minister of State who witnessed the signing of the agreement praised in his speech the Hungarian Government for their generosity and termed the agreement an incredible development which would help bring the two nations closer.
